Heroes for saving your skin this season
Fall is officially here and we’re looking forward to the brightly colored leaves, apple cider, tricks and treats. But, if you’re like me, you’re not looking forward to all of the signs of cooler weather on your skin. From the bursts of cold, dry air to the extremely drying indoor heat, the change in season can wreak havoc on the skin.
As Francesco explains, “it’s not just the change in the air, it’s the change in our routines that affects skin.” We tend to get less exercise and drink less water because we’re not as thirsty. As a result, our body does not flush out toxins at the same rate as it was in the warmer months--often causing a perfect storm of dryness, irritation, puffiness and breakouts.
This season, we’re saying “boo!” to scary skin. (We’ll leave the fright for our Halloween costumes.) Here are some of our favorite Clark’s Botanicals heroes when your skin is screaming out to you:
Dryness & Tightness
Dryness and tightness is the most obvious sign of the changing season. It’s time to turn on the humidifier and apply our Deep Moisture Mask. Wear a generous layer for 15 minutes and tissue off, or apply a thin layer overnight--ideally on top of your Retinol Rescue Overnight Cream. The Jasmine, Algae and Vitamin E hydrate intensely.
Redness & irritation
Redness and irritation can be caused by changing your soap or cleanser. Try our Soothing Herbal Face Wash, a creamy cleanser that is gentle enough for most skin. It features a cocktail of hydrating and calming natural ingredients such as Jasmine, Lavender, Chamomile, Cucumber and Aloe. Plus, it is non-foaming and can be used wet or dry.
Puffiness
Puffiness occurs when your lymphatic drainage system is not working as well as it should be. Cooler weather as well as a decrease in activity and hydration can disrupt that vital system. For a quick fix, try Anti-Puff Eye Cream with Vitamins A, C, and E plus Caffeine extract to smooth and de-puff the eye area.
Breakouts
Breakouts come hand-in-hand with decreased aerobic activity and more indoor pollutants. We suggest a regimen that includes Skin Clearing Face & Body Wash, Smoothing Marine Cream and Intense Radiance Mask. These products feature gentle, natural exfoliants (such as sugar-derived glycolic acid, salicylic acid and willow bark extract) to help clarify skin and the clay-based mask draws out impurities.
We’d love to hear how these remedies are working for you--and what other heroes are saving your skin this season!
